2023 Summer Civic Spring Fellowship Social Kit

Are you looking to make an impact in your community this summer and get PAID to do it? The Civic Spring Fellowship from the Institute for Citizens & Scholars empowers teams of young people to lead community projects this summer.

Young people play a critical role in strengthening our democracy today and for the long haul. At Citizens & Scholars, we believe that community involvement is where this begins. By focusing on community projects, Civic Spring Fellowship groups will build skills to continue engaging and driving meaningful change for the long term.

The Civic Spring Fellowship funds individual youth pursuing projects across the country with teams receiving combined funding up to $14,000–including $1,800 stipends for Fellows and $4,000 for Leads–to fund their work.

These groups will be made up of one or two TEAM LEAD(S) and a team of 4-5 additional TEAM MEMBERS.

Teams will have unique opportunities to learn, network, and build coalitions throughout the 10-week Fellowship. Applications are open March 1—April 14, 2023.

Purpose of this toolkit

Help us spread the word about the Civic Spring Fellowship to organizations and young people. At Citizens & Scholars, we believe that meaningful civic learning happens outside of the classroom and that formative, community-based civic experiences promote long-term civic engagement, especially when co-led by young people working together. By giving teams of young people the tools and the power to carry out change in their communities today, they’re better prepared to strengthen our democracy for the long haul.
