Communities across the country need youth civic leaders ready to collaborate and address pressing issues like criminal justice, community health and wellness, and economic opportunity. Civic skills—such as navigating tough conversations, listening actively, expressing ideas clearly, and understanding diverse perspectives—are essential and grow stronger with practice.
We’ve invested over $2 million to support hundreds of youth civic leaders with funding, mentorship, and resources—empowering them to address complex community challenges by shaping state policies, expanding access to vital services, and driving voter engagement.
Carnegie Young Leaders for Civic Preparedness
The program will bring together 500 young people aged 14–24 from across the country, empowering them to launch impactful community projects.
Youth Civic Solutions Competition
A 2024 national competition inviting young people to submit innovative ideas to enhance civic knowledge, engagement, and trust during a pivotal election year.
Civic Outlook of Young Adults in America
A first-of-its-kind national survey of 18–24-year-old Americans that sheds light on their civic knowledge, civic engagement, and commitment to democracy.

Civic Spring Fellow Team, University of Chicago Charter School
Organized a back-to-school event, connecting more than 1,000 families with school supplies, resources, and access to social organizations.

Created a translation app that supports over 80 languages, breaking down language barriers and serving as a powerful literacy enrichment tool.
