Institute for Citizens & Scholars Announces the Youth Civic Solutions Competition

Strengthening Gen Z’s Civic Engagement and Trust in a Critical Election Year

August 30, 2024

PRINCETON, N.J. (August 30, 2024)— The Institute for Citizens & Scholars is pleased to announce the launch of the Youth Civic Solutions Competition. Open to young people aged 14-24 across the United States, the competition invites participants to submit innovative ideas to strengthen civic knowledge, engagement, and trust during this pivotal election year.

The Youth Civic Solutions Competition aims to empower Gen Z by providing a platform to share their ideas and solutions. Participants can submit either a short, written response or a video addressing one of three prompts: improving civic knowledge and media literacy, increasing civic engagement, or strengthening trust in one another or in democratic institutions. The competition is divided into two categories: High School (14-18) and Young Adult (18-24).

Submissions will be accepted from August 30 through October 4, 2024. Finalists will be announced on October 14, 2024, and winners on October 22, 2024. Each winner will receive a $1,000 prize to support their civic initiatives, along with opportunities to connect with established leaders in the civic learning field. There may also be a showcase opportunity following the November election.

The Youth Civic Solutions Competition underscores the Institute for Citizens & Scholars’ commitment to fostering a generation of informed and engaged citizens and elevating youth-driven solutions. We encourage young people to take advantage of this unique opportunity to shape the future of youth civic engagement, gain national recognition, and receive valuable support to bring their vision to life.
