University of Pittsburgh, a member institution of College Presidents for Civic Preparedness, hosted “A Conversation on the Role of Universities in Civic Preparedness. Carissa Slotterback, dean of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, facilitated a discussion emphasizing universities’ role in advancing civil discourse and fostering community engagement. The conversation featured Rajiv Vinnakota, president of Citizens and Scholars, and Kristin Kanthak, a political science associate professor, and explored themes like the role of young people in democracy and the importance of accessible communication to encourage trust in institutions.
