Marie Staniforth

Senior Program Officer for Measurement and Evaluation

Dr. Marie Staniforth is Senior Program Officer for Measurement and Evaluation at the Institute for Citizens & Scholars.

Previously, Marie was an Assistant Professor of Political Science and has taught at private liberal arts colleges, community colleges, and public research universities. She has worked with nonprofit partners across the pro-democracy spectrum to create research and data programs on a wide range of topics, including perceptions of democracy, social cohesion, bridging divides, polarization, deliberative democracy, and mis and disinformation. She is the author of Agonistic Democracy: Rethinking Political Institutions in Pluralist Times. Marie holds a PhD and MRes in Politics from the University of Nottingham, where she also earned a BA in French and Politics.

Marie enjoys bike rides, running with her dog, and traveling. She has volunteered as a gymnastics coach and was honored to serve in the Olympic Village during the London Paralympics in 2012.
