Fellow Expectations & Schedule

Expectations

Fellows are expected to:

  • Complete the application
  • Attend the virtual 2023 Civic Spring Fellowship Orientation (week of January 23)
  • Participate in weekly meetings with assigned CSF Coach(es) and peer Fellows (virtual, schedule TBD based on Fellows’ availability)
  • Keep a time log of hours and progress
  • Complete final report
    • Narrative progress report/project assessment
    • Budget breakdown
    • 1–2-minute video reflection
  • Complete periodic surveys with respect to the project (quarterly for years 1-2, and annually for years 3-5)

Fellows can expect the following:

  • Better understanding of how to identify community needs and different ways to address those needs.
  • Increased civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
  • Membership in a growing national network of young people working in civic spaces.
  • Strategies for engaging with people with different opinions, beliefs, lived experiences, etc.
  • Connections to changemakers, leaders, community members, professionals, and organizations in your community and beyond.
  • Weekly coaching support to assist you as you undertake your project.

Schedule

  • November 4-December 9: Application open (due by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Dec 9)
  • December 9 – 15: Selection committee process
  • December 16: Grantees notified
  • December 16 – January 2: Contracts, release forms & other materials (due by 11:59 pm)
  • Week of January 23: 2023 Civic Spring Arizona Orientation (virtual)
  • Week of January 30 – March 31: Project implementation & weekly meetings (virtual, schedule TBD based on Fellows’ availability)
  • TBD in April: Final Community of Practice & presentations (virtual)
  • May 1: Final report due (extensions considered)
